About Luminescence
Luminescence Tutoring is a multigenerational, family-owned, personal tuition practice focused on helping children build genuine confidence in Maths, English and Science through patient teaching, thoughtful practice and consistent support.
Three Decades of Experience
With over 30 years of experience in both face-to-face and online lessons, we have built a well-established history filled with success stories and long-term relationships. Many families return with multiple children—often seeking support for two or three at a time—and all of our growth to date has come through word-of-mouth recommendations, including from international clients beyond the UK. We are even proud to support the children of former students, as parents already know what we offer and the difference a strong educational foundation can make in a young person’s life.
Our support also extends to homeschooled students, many of whom may have struggled in traditional school settings but thrive in a family-oriented, caring, and supportive environment. Here, they can learn at their own pace in a familiar, safe, and unpressurised setting. This approach has been particularly beneficial for pupils with a range of SEND needs. We also provide guidance on accessing additional support and navigating the specific challenges faced by students who do not fit the standard ‘mould’. Our work in this area is strengthened by our own lived experience, enabling us to guide parents and learners with empathy and insight across multiple generations.
Our Approach
Every child learns differently. Lessons are shaped around the individual learner — their current stage, their strengths, and the areas where a little extra understanding will make the biggest difference to the life and achievement of every child. Sessions are structured but never rushed, with plenty of time for questions and careful explanation.
The goal is not just to get the right answer — it's to understand why the answer is right, so the learner can apply the same thinking to future challenges and life in general. Learning is more than getting the 'sums right'; it's about developing the confidence to have a go and face unknown situations, secure in the knowledge that whatever you face has answers, and that you can get there one way or another.

Mathematics

The Worksheet Portal
Alongside lessons, learners have access to a growing library of interactive practice worksheets. Many regenerate fresh questions every time they're opened and give multiple attempts before revealing the answer — so practice never runs out.
